Yael Deckelbaum & “Prayer of the Mothers†Ensemble
A new boundary breaking all woman ensemble, uniting on one stage 14 secular, religious, Arabic, Christian and Jewish women, announcing together through a celebration of womanhood, the message of a new world.
A world where we learn to see the beauty of our diversity, unite above religions and nationalities and restore the forgotten values of humanity, authenticity, kindness, mutual responsibility and hope.The woman is a necessary, essential and inseparable component in building such a world and through music, harmony and rhythm, we will share a heart melting journey that will open our gates to new possibilities.
Yael Deckelbaum created the song “Prayer of the Mothers†to support the march of hope, lead by the movement of “Women Wage Peaceâ€, in which thousands of Israeli and Palestinian women marched together this last October in a joint prayer for peace. The song became the anthem of the march and continues to resonate to millions of people around the world.
By peeking into the ensemble’s rehearsal room, we can hear the song “This Land†that was translated into Egyptian Arabic by Hagar Samir and her mother and N. Ibrahim and Musa Sabre.
Along with the message of Prayer of the Mothers, the women in the ensemble will sing another prayer, for a respectful living, hope and new horizon that will be revealed to all inhabitants of our country.Yael: “There are good people in every culture, place, religion and nation, people who want to live in peace. My prayer is that we will learn to see beyond the differences and connect to the deep yearning that unifies us all, a yearning for a life of freedom and plenty. If we believe the current reality, we won’t be able to change it. It’s time to work together for change.â€
The ensemble will perform for the first time on May 18th at 21:00, on the main stage of “Menashe Forest Festivalâ€.

De Grote Geldenquête: dit vindt de Belg
Hoe kijkt de Belg naar zijn eigen portemonnee, en die van zijn buurman? Is het basisinkomen een goed idee? De meest opvallende resultaten uit de Grote Geldenquête van Knack op een rij.
- 63% van de Belgen is tegen de invoering van een basisinkomen van 1000 euro per maand (19% is voor, 18% neutraal).
Van de 65-plussers wijst 73 procent het basisinkomen af, maar ook bij de min-34-jarigen is het geen succes: 64 procent is tegen. Willen ook beslist niet weten van een basisinkomen: laagopgeleiden (68 procent), mensen die niet actief zijn (71 procent) en mensen uit de lagere sociale klasse (71 procent). Opvallend: vooral degenen die het meest in aanmerking komen voor een of andere sociale uitkering, wijzen het basisinkomen af.
- Helft (49%) van de Belgen heeft aan het einde van de maand overschot op het gezinsinkomen (29% komt net toe en 19% komt tekort).
Dat gebeurt vaak bij Nederlandstaligen (61 procent) en veel minder bij Franstaligen (33 procent). Bijna drie op de vier landgenoten zeggen te sparen: duidelijk meer Nederlandstaligen (79 procent) dan Franstaligen (66 procent).
- Tweederde van Belgen (62%) heeft vertrouwen in het advies van de bank (20% heeft het niet, 18% is neutraal).
Wat in het oog springt, is dat slechts 34 procent van de zelfstandigen zegt vertrouwen te hebben in de aanbevelingen van zijn bank. De andere beroepscategorieën zijn minder wantrouwig: 58 procent van de bedienden, 66 procent van de niet-actieven en 69 procent van de arbeiders slaan het advies van hun bank niet in de wind.
- Vier op de vijf Belgen vindt het verschil tussen hoogste en laagste lonen in het land te groot (13% vindt van niet, 7% is neutraal).
Volgens de recentste cijfers van de FOD Economie verdiende een voltijdse werknemer in 2014 gemiddeld 3414 euro bruto per maand. De helft van de werknemers verdient meer dan 2976 euro, 10 procent van de loontrekkenden trekt minstens 5178 euro bruto, 10 procent krijgt minder dan 2220 euro.
- Bijna helft (46%) van de Belgen denkt dat er binnen de vijf jaar een nieuwe bankencrisis komt (27% denkt van niet, 27% neutraal).
Drie op de vier ondervraagden zeggen dat ze de gevolgen van de bankencrisis van 2008 hebben gevoeld: ze konden minder sparen (52 procent), hadden minder koopkracht (52 procent) of moesten uitgaven uitstellen (33 procent). Bijna de helft is ervan overtuigd dat we binnen de vijf jaar een nieuwe bankencrisis meemaken, één op de vier denkt dat het niet zover komt.
